Overview
domhaul ("we", "us") is a tool for finding available domain names. We respect your privacy and aim to collect only what we need to operate the service.
Information we collect
- Search queries you submit to generate or check domain availability.
- Anonymous analytics (hygo.ai analytics) about page views and basic usage.
- Advertising data via Google AdSense, which may use cookies for personalized ads.
- If you buy a domain through domhaul: your name, email address, phone number, and billing address (collected on Stripe's secure checkout page), plus your order details. We never see or store your card number.
How we use information
- Provide and improve the service.
- Operate AI features (search queries may be sent to LLM APIs).
- Display relevant advertising.
AI assistant integration (MCP server)
domhaul offers a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT can connect to. When an assistant checks availability or pricing, we receive only the domain names or TLDs being checked — no account information, conversation content, or personal data. To answer those requests we query public RDAP domain registries for availability, and Dynadot and Namecheap for pricing. If you choose to buy a domain, the assistant receives a secure Stripe checkout link; your personal and payment details are entered only on that Stripe page, never through the chat. The MCP server requires no login and sets no cookies.
Domain purchases
When you buy a domain through domhaul (on the website or via an AI assistant):
- Payment is processed by Stripe on its hosted checkout page. Stripe collects your card details under its own privacy policy; domhaul never receives your card number.
- Registrant data: the name, email, phone number, and billing address you enter at checkout are submitted to our registrar partner, Dynadot, as the domain's registrant (WHOIS) contact — this is what makes you the legal owner of the domain from the moment it is registered. We enable free WHOIS privacy, so your details are not published in public WHOIS. Registrars and registries process this data under ICANN policies.
- Order records: we store the domain, price, order status, your email address, your Dynadot push username (if provided), and Stripe payment references in our database so we can fulfill, support, and account for your order. We retain these records for as long as required for accounting, fraud prevention, and legal compliance. You can request deletion of personal data we are not legally required to keep by emailing us.
- Domain handoff: your email address is shared with Dynadot to send you the transfer-acceptance request that moves the domain into your own Dynadot account.
Affiliate links
Registration links we provide (on the website and through the MCP server) are Namecheap affiliate links operated through Impact. If you click one, the checked domain name is included in the link so Namecheap can pre-fill your search, and domhaul may earn a commission on a resulting purchase at no extra cost to you. Impact and Namecheap apply their own tracking and privacy policies once you leave our service.
Data retention
Domain queries (including those made through the MCP server) are processed in memory to produce results and are not stored in a way that identifies you. TLD pricing lookups are cached for up to 30 days. Purchase order records are retained as described under "Domain purchases" above. Anonymous analytics are retained per hygo.ai's retention policy. We keep server logs only as long as needed for security and debugging.
Cookies
We use cookies for analytics and ads. You can disable cookies in your browser settings.
Third parties
We use hygo.ai analytics, Google AdSense, and LLM APIs (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI). For purchases we additionally use Stripe (payment processing), Dynadot (domain registrar), and Turso (order database hosting). Each has its own privacy policy.
